Course: MUSICAL THEATRE AND ACTING for Teens and Adults

Course Outline:

This course is aimed at students (12 years old and above) who wish to explore the exciting world of Musical Theatre. The students will have classes in acting, singing and movement – which include chorus work, solo work, acting approach, scene studies and improvisation – combining all three strands of performance arts. Particular emphasis is placed on combining a solid acting approach with singing, using the Stanislavski – Uta Hagen devised technique. This includes sense memory, physical and psychological actions, animal work, relationship exercises, character work, obstacles and improvisations.

No previous experience is necessary, but all students are expected to participate fully in the course – and can decide to concentrate on either a Musical Theatre or Acting (for non-singers) strand for the Final Showcase which will be prepared for and rehearsed towards a full Public Performance.

The Final Showcase will be open to the paying public, and will consist of musical theatre pieces, scene studies, as well as group and solo musical theatre work. Students will be offered the opportunity to explore a wide range of characters and roles.

Fees:

P5,500 for the 8 week course, inclusive of Showcase fee
(*note: does not include showcase tickets or program costs)

Cancellation:

It is advisable to pay a 50% down payment two weeks before the start of the course to ensure a place in the class. Places are strictly limited so applicants will be handled on a first come first served basis. Note that only one class is being offered this summer, to ensure the highest standard of training and personal supervision for the students, which is limited to 24 places only.

50% balance is expected to be paid by the first day of class on April 1st.

If cancellation is made before the first day of class or during the course, any down payments or fees paid are non refundable.

The New Voice Company reserves the right to not accept any student for non payment of fees.
